Lisa Avelleyra is the author of the book "Get Me to The Abbey," a memoir about her time in treatment for alcoholism at an abbey turned residential treatment center. After several attempts to stop drinking for 40 years, Lisa set out on a mission to die a death by alcohol. She was taken to a week’s stay in the hospital, and then lead to treatment at the abbey which in turn started off Lisa’s journey in sobriety. 

While in treatment, Lisa found her passion for books flowing back into her life. Submerging herself within literature, she was able to find the inspiration to start writing her book.
